About Vassago
In the beginning
After throwing a leg over our first 29er back in the day, we were hooked. But the initial benefits of stability, traction and rollability, inherent in 29ers, came with compromises in handling. After years of riding and tinkering with dozens of manufacturers attempts at the 29" platform, we decided it was time to take matters into our own hands.
It seams every big-guy company is jumping on the 29er bandwagon. While we're happy to see more people find the 29er goodness, its creating a disturbing trend of ill-handling, top-heavy bikes.
This happens when an engineer is told to cram 29" wheels into traditional 26" geometries, ending up with the well known "truckish" handling 29ers so common on showroom floors. Tall, slow proportions and clearance issues with the forks and tires you want to run.
The Vassago Way
We Design our frames around the wheels with no regard for what was accepted or expected on a 26" bike. The result is a refreshingly balanced, perfect handling, big o' 29er that sets the standard for how the big wheelers should feel.
The Result
A bike that immediately has the feel of riding IN the bike, not high up, on top. Our bikes are long and low with the rider weight evenly positioned in the center point between the wheels.
Value
A word over used but vital to enjoyment. One of our main features throughout our line is value. Sadly, there are other things in life than riding, and most of them also require cash. But your riding experience should never have to suffer. Enter the key feature. VALUE.
The Process
"Designed on the Westcoast, refined on the East coast"
Our bikes are designed in California and Utah by an ever evolving team of designers who ride, and racers who push the designs to their limits.
After scrapping a ton of Utah-built protos, we send the final prototypes overseas for torture testing to ensure they are up to static, stress and fatigue testing. Once the frames meet all CEN standards, We send the manufacturing duties to our factory in Taiwan (Democratic and active World Trade for you political types) to provide surprisingly affordable 29er frames with the highest quality designs, materials, and workmanship. No crappy, chipping paint here. Just super clean welds and attention to detail.
So
That's it in a nutshell. Superior handling bikes at a price that leaves you with beer money (the good stuff) That's the Vassago way. Now step away from the computer and go sneak in a ride.
